Parental Involvement

The school has a positive Open Door Policy and as such parents may visit the school at any time. (For security reasons all parents must sign in at the office and receive a visitors/helpers badge.)

There are many ways in which parents may become actively involved in the life of the school and it is hoped that as many parents as possible will support their children’s learning in this way.

The continual flow of information between home and school is vital in order to maintain the happiness and progress of the children. If matters are not too urgent, however, it would be appreciated if an appointment could be made with either the class teacher or the Headteacher. This should then ensure that the relevant member of staff is available to you. As a matter of safety, children should never be left alone in the classroom.

Please remember that if you have any concerns at all about your child at any time you should contact the class teacher as soon as possible. Should you feel your concerns have not been dealt with satisfactorily please make an appointment to see the Headteacher. Further discussion can take place with the Chair of the Governors and, if necessary, an appeal can be made to the Appeals Committee.

We hope you will accept our invitations to our Parents’ consultation sessions which take place in the Autumn and Spring Term. In addition a written report is sent to parents each summer. An opportunity to discuss this report with the class teacher can also be made. Our school website  www.stnicholasprimary.co.uk is used to showcase our work and also as a key communication tool. The school VLE – Virtual Learning Environment is currently being trialled by several classes!!!
