Year 3

Dear Year 3 Team,

We hope you have had a lovely Easter break and are re-energised ready to jump into a very exciting new term! This term we will be focusing on the Learning to Learn value of RESOURCEFULNESS

and the Christian value of COMPASSION.

In maths, we will be focussing on fractions and time, as well as recapping what we have covered so far in the year. Literacy will include creating a character and setting description based on the refugee book ‘The Journey’, as well as writing a discussion text on the book ‘What a Waste’.

In Science we will be discovering what happens to animals if they do not eat and we will investigate different skeletons, finding out what different animals eat! In Design Technology we will be exploring pneumatic toys and will design and make our very own moving toys! We have an art project on self-portraits where we will be looking at the work of George Seurat too. All very exciting!

In addition, we are going to be rehearsing a song and learning some funky moves for our whole school musical. I’m sure the children will be so excited to share this with you at the end of this term! For more details, please see our termly plan and knowledge organisers below.

Our PE sessions will continue to be on a Wednesday and Thursday. Please send the children to school in their PE kit, prepared for outdoor PE.

Please ensure your child brings a named water bottle and healthy snack to school every day together with weather appropriate clothing e.g. sun hats.  They will also require a change of shoes/wellies to wear on the field at break and lunchtime. Please ensure these are all clearly named.

As always, please get in touch via Class Dojo if you have any queries.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs Hood, Mrs Hibbitt and Miss Harper
