Chinese New Year
The children have been enjoying finding out about the Chinese New Year festival this week which commenced last Monday and continues for 2 weeks. This year is the year of the dragon which fits in beautifully with our current topic 'the enchanted journey'.
One of the highlights of our week was the opening of our 'Chinese Restaurant'! The children designed and made their own Chinese place mats on the computer (using their newly acquired word processing skills) and found out what 'animal' year they were born in. They all bravely sampled the Chinese food (the bean sprouts and prawn crackers were a hit!) and impressed us with their chopstick skills! They practised their impeccable manners and thanked their waitress (Mrs. Morton) and chef (Mrs. Norton). It was a pleasure to have such well mannered and polite customers in our restaurant!
