  • Caythorpe 2014 - Second Update -Home tomorrow!

    Thu 05 Jun 2014
After a cold, wet, muddy start to the day, the team have had another amazing day at Caythorpe! They started off in an activity in underground tunnels, which they loved, then went abseiling! Despite nerves, both Annabelle
and Archie demonstrated incredible determination to combat their fears and complete the challenge....sterling effort both of you! During the afternoon the activities were Jacob's Ladder, which Mr Gooding arrived in time to see (and when the sun finally appeared!) ... and a mental agility challenge of Problem-Solving. During the problem-solving task, the quieter members of the group really shone and the usually more vocal children realised that listening was the key to completing the challenge successfully...so a great learning exercise! Mrs Ray was very, very impressed with the level of teamwork displayed by all during this activity.
Tomorrow morning the agenda is 'High Ropes' in the trees, and 'Rifles'- Wow! The group will be departing after lunch and will arrive back in school when they are able to go home immediately if you are able to collect them. Mrs Ray will stay in school until 3.30pm to supervise any children who need to remain in school until then.
Our Y6s have truly shone during this visit- Mrs Ray says they have ALL been stars, so supportive of each other, coped with challenges admirably and risen to all challenges! We are all very proud of you Y6 2014 - Well Done!
As I write, they are playing football in Onesies -including Rory -and Owen G  is sporting his Dinosaur Onesie and woolly hat! I think Mrs Ray may have taught them some new card games too! I heard them all shout hello in the background, and they all sounded very happy!   We look forward to hearing all about their adventures tomorrow!!!! smiley From Mrs Lyons
  • Caythorpe 2014 - News from first two days!

    Wed 04 Jun 2014
Mrs Ray telephoned me tonight with the latest news from Caythorpe...
After a good night's sleep (lights out at 10pm!) today was an action packed day! The day's activities included...the High Climbing Wall, which everyone achieved very well, the Vertical Challenge which involved suspended tyres and ladder, and was pretty slippery. A huge amount of determination was shown by all - and notably Alanta ...who I think was the one member of the team who reached the top! Amazing resilience and technique Alanta- well done you! They have all made friends with the Whissendine gang, and Brandol has a new best buddy! Archie has charmed all the staff, and Mrs Ray says it is a pleasure to be with all of the Y6s, and see a different side to their personalities away from school! The girls are all very happy and settled in their usual friendship groups, and when they all had free time to chillax last night, the girls hung out together, whilst the boys from both schools (and Sophie) went to the sport's hall for a game of footy. After a very rainy day of raft-building and archery, they are hoping for a Campfire tonight! Suffice to say, they are all thoroughly enjoying themselves and 'getting stuck in' to a very packed programme!  Watch this space for another update tomorrow night, Mrs Lyonssad
