Artists in the making!
As part of our learning about snails we looked at the famous work of art by Henri Matisse entitled 'The Snail' (see below). The children discussed their thoughts on the picture and said what they liked and disliked about it. They came up with some very innovative ideas about what the picture was depicting and were very surprised to discover it was in fact called 'The Snail'!
We decided that we would be famous artists for the afternoon and created a gigantic picture in the style of Henri Matisse! The children worked fantastically as a team and collaborated beautifully to create their own magnificent work of art. We hope you managed to see it when we displayed it in the playground as we were extremely proud of our efforts!
