Learning Our Sounds!
Today we had our first proper phonics session with the help of Fred the Frog!
Fred helps us to learn how to read and write and, at our school, we use the scheme 'Read Write Inc' throughout the whole school. We have a daily phonics session and initially we learn four new sounds a week.
Today we started with the sound 'm'.
In each session, the children learn how to pronounce the sound correctly, they say words beginning with the sound, they learn a special phrase to go with each sound and they use this phrase to help them write the sound in a variety of ways.
The children were fantastic and all 'had a go' at writing today's sound.
