Our learning in our topic 'helping hands' was enhanced and enriched by two special visitors this week who very kindly gave up their time to talk about their jobs and how they help us.
On Monday, we were joined by PC Steve Haughton who was absolutely brilliant with our children. Many of our class had never met a real police officer before and some already had some pre-conceived ideas about their job and were a little apprehensive about meeting him! However, PC Haughton was simply marvellous at answering our questions and enabled all the children to see that he was someone they could trust and go to if they needed a 'helping hand'! The highlight of his visit was having the opportunity to see his police car! You can imagine our excitement when he put the sirens on for us!!! We extend our grateful thanks to Steve (who we have to say was very impressed with our children!)

On Wednesday, we were joined by our post lady Sally Usher, who again was fantastic at answering the questions we had devised for her! She so very kindly lent us a range of resources including a real post office mail sorter together with a big pile of pretend letters to sort! The children had great fun sorting the mail into the correct slot for the rest of the week! A special thank you to Sally for giving up her valuable time to give our children an insight into her job!
